Every Kid in a Park - Richmond completes its second year!
In collaboration with the National Park Service, Rosie the Riveter Trust and West Contra Costa Unified School District, the California Outdoor Engagement Coalition brought Richmond 4th grade students, supported by UC Berkeley student interns, to Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historic Park (RORI) for the second successful year in a row! Field trip participants explored the Visitor Center, learned about climate change and ways to minimize their environmental impact, the importance of Richmond and women in WWII, and took a 1 mile walk along the beautiful San Francisco Bay Trail. Some classes even got the chance to interact with former Rosies and hear their stories. President Obama launched the Every Kid in a Park campaign last year to provide all 4th graders and their families with free access to all federally owned lands and waters for an entire year and we're thrilled to be a part of its ongoing success!
