Green Schoolyards America and Presidio Trust Networking Event

  • Dates: May 24th, 2018 from 4-6pm
  • SF Bay Area colleagues: Please join Green Schoolyards America and the Presidio Trust for an afternoon of networking, inspiration, and lively discussion about connecting children and nature in cities and schools. The event will be held at the Presidio, in honor of International School Grounds Month! We are thrilled to feature a presentation by our colleague, Lais Fleury, visiting from Brazil, and a panel discussion about connecting children with nature in the Bay Area. The event is free, but RSVP is required.

Visit California’s Redwood State Parks for Free!

  • Date: Second Saturday of every month
  • Description: In celebration of the League’s Centennial year, they’re inviting everyone to experience the sights and sounds of more than 40 of California’s redwood state parks—for free! Every second Saturday of each month in 2018, Save the Redwoods League and California State Parks will be hosting a Free Redwoods Day. Parking passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis each month, ahead of the next event. Their next event is on June 9th— you can download your free pass starting at the end of May here.

Raising Race Conscious Children Event

  • Dates: June 24th, 2018 at 8pm
  • In this 1.5 hour-long workshop/webinar, you will:

1. Develop the confidence to talk about race with young children.

2. Practice various strategies to proactively talk about race with young children.

3. Strengthen children’s ability to become a change-maker

  • Description: The Emerging Leaders Program ("ELP") prepares a diverse group of outdoor recreationists, ages 21-30, to help lead the conversations at SHIFT.
